A small Laois town that becomes 50,000 people for one weekend in September. Electric Picnic festival at Stradbally Hall.

Stradbally is a small Laois market town that is famous for one weekend in September — Electric Picnic, Ireland's leading independent music festival, which runs on the Stradbally Hall estate. The hall is a 600-acre demesne. Once a year, 50,000 people come here. The rest of the year it is quiet.

The Steam Rally runs in August on the same estate — vintage steam engines and farm machinery. It is smaller than the festival but significant. So the summer at Stradbally is two big weekends (August and September) and the rest of the time is small-town quiet.
