Ross Errilly
Built in the mid-14th century on the road between Headford and Cong, the friary survives as one of the most intact monastic complexes in Ireland. The Franciscans were the order of simplicity and reform — Ross Errilly shows it. The two cloisters are largely standing, the domestic buildings legible, the water-mill (still with its races) intact. The church is roofless but the arches remain. The refectory stairs still climb. Walk the site slowly. The detail rewards attention.
