Local Tips

Naas has a handy position on the M7 motorway corridor. The route north to Belfast typically runs through Dublin and up the M1, which is one of Ireland’s better motorways. Plan for roughly 2 hours 30 minutes in normal conditions, and build in extra time if you’re travelling on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon when commuter traffic can add to the Dublin transit time.

The town itself is the county seat of Kildare, and it’s a solid base for the surrounding area. The Curragh racecourse is nearby, as is the Japanese Gardens and the Irish National Stud at Tully - worth knowing about if you’re in the area for more than just a transfer pickup.

Naas has grown significantly in recent years and has a good range of cafés and restaurants. If you’re waiting for an early morning pickup, the town centre has options that open reasonably early, which is useful when you’re trying to eat before a long journey north.

Belfast City Airport (BFS) handles mostly short-haul European routes and is considerably smaller and easier to navigate than Dublin Airport. Connections through BFS to UK cities and some European destinations can work out cheaper if you’re willing to travel up from Kildare, and the airport’s compact size means less time spent in security queues.

If you’re travelling as a group of six, confirm luggage details when booking. Six adults with a full set of suitcases each is a significant load, and the operator will appreciate knowing what you’re bringing so they can confirm the right vehicle size in advance.
