"Dublin to cliffs of Moher" Private Daytrip

About This Tour

This is a private day out to the Cliffs of Moher, built around you rather than a fixed group schedule. Your driver collects you from your Dublin accommodation and takes you west at your own pace, with the flexibility to choose your preferred stops along the way. No coach tour crowds, no itinerary you’re locked into.

En route you’ll stop at Barack Obama Plaza outside Moneygall - built in honour of the former US president whose ancestors came from the area - for a free coffee and a rest break. Then it’s on to the Cliffs of Moher, where the Atlantic has carved 214 metres of cliff face across a stretch of coastline that runs for kilometres. Your driver knows the route and the timing well, and will share local knowledge in English throughout the day.

At the end of the day, you can choose to be dropped back in Dublin or finish the journey in Galway - whatever works best for your plans.

Ideal for couples, families, or small groups who want a relaxed alternative to a large bus tour. Maximum of 8 guests.

Local Tips

The Cliffs of Moher visitor experience is busiest between 10am and 3pm. If your schedule allows, arriving before 10am or after 4pm means fewer people, better light for photos, and a quieter walk along the clifftop path. Your driver can time the route accordingly if you let them know your preference at the start of the day.

The cliff path goes in both directions from the main visitor centre. Most people head north toward O’Brien’s Tower, but the southern path toward Hag’s Head is quieter and gives you a different view back along the cliff face. It’s rougher underfoot, so wear shoes you don’t mind getting muddy.

Barack Obama Plaza in Moneygall is more than a service station. The heritage exhibition inside tells the story of the Kearney family, President Obama’s maternal ancestors, who left from this part of County Offaly during the Famine years. It’s a good stretch break and worth ten minutes of your time.

If you’re finishing in Galway rather than heading back to Dublin, the Spanish Arch and the Latin Quarter are a short walk from most drop-off points in the city centre. Galway has a strong live music scene in the evenings, particularly along Quay Street, if you’re staying over.
