Your chauffeur meets you at Dublin Airport arrivals or collects you from your Dublin city address, then takes you straight to Midleton in County Cork in a Mercedes Benz E220 Executive Class. The car fits up to 3 passengers comfortably with luggage - 2 standard 20 kg suitcases plus 2 small cases - and both vehicle and driver are fully licensed and insured under the Irish Government Transport Authority.
All road tolls and parking fees are covered in the price, and there’s free Wi-Fi on board. If you need the return journey too, book the same transfer for your return date and include your pick-up and drop-off details when you book.
Midleton is home to one of Ireland’s most visited distilleries. The Jameson Distillery at the old Midleton site - now called the Jameson Experience - is the main draw for most visitors, and it’s genuinely well done. The tour covers the history of Irish whiskey-making, the copper pot stills (some of the largest in the world when they were in use), and ends with a tasting. Book ahead in summer; it fills up.
The town itself has a good food scene. Midleton Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings is one of the best in Munster - it’s been running for over twenty years and the quality is consistently high. Sprout in the town centre is worth knowing for lunch, and the market is a good reason to time your arrival for a Saturday.
East Cork as a whole is worth slowing down for. The coastline east of Midleton - Ballycotton, Shanagarry, Garryvoe - is quieter and less visited than West Cork, but the scenery is lovely and the seafood is excellent. Ballymaloe House is nearby, and even if you’re not staying or eating there, the Ballymaloe Cookery School has a shop and grounds worth visiting.
Cork city is 25 minutes west. If you’ve got a spare afternoon, the English Market in the city centre is one of the most atmospheric food markets in Ireland, and the Crawford Art Gallery on Emmet Place is free and very good.
