Private Transfer - Dublin to Cork City (or reverse) - Sedan

About

The Dublin to Cork run takes around three hours, and doing it in a private sedan is a more comfortable option than a bus or train when you’re dealing with luggage, a tight schedule, or the tail end of a long journey. Occasion Cars monitors flights to and from major airports, so your chauffeur is already tracking your arrival and will be there when you land.

The transfer runs in both directions - Dublin to Cork or Cork to Dublin - so it works just as well for the return leg of your trip.

Local Tips

Cork city is compact and walkable once you arrive, which makes it easy to get your bearings without a car. The city centre sits on an island between two channels of the River Lee, and most of what you’d want to see - the English Market, St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the Crawford Art Gallery - is within comfortable walking distance of the main bridge. Drop your bags and get out on foot.

The English Market on Grand Parade is one of the best covered food markets in Ireland and has been trading since 1788. It’s busiest on Saturday mornings but worth visiting any day for a look at what Cork does with food - local farmhouse cheeses, proper charcuterie, fish from the coast, and Arbutus bread if you can get it. There’s a cafe on the balcony level where you can eat overlooking the stalls.

Cork people have a strong sense of local identity, and the city has a character quite different from Dublin. The accent takes a bit of tuning into, the streets have their own logic, and the craic in the pubs on the north and south Mall tends to be less tourist-facing than you’d find in Temple Bar. Patrick Street is the main commercial drag, but the side streets around MacCurtain Street and the north side of the city have better bars and more interesting restaurants.

If you’re arriving by air into Cork Airport, this transfer also covers that route since Occasion Cars monitors airport arrivals. Cork Airport is about 8 km south of the city centre, and the road in is quick. Worth confirming the pickup point with the operator when you book if you’re arriving at the airport rather than departing from Dublin.
