Portnablagh · Co. Donegal
A sliver of harbor and sand. Barely enough people to fill a pub. Exactly enough quiet to hear yourself think.
Portnablagh is a village that doesn't quite have enough people to qualify as one. Two hundred souls at most, clustered around a working harbor on Sheephaven Bay - a shelter so gentle it barely earns the name. The pier is small. The beach is small. The story is small. That is almost entirely the point.
It sits three kilometers south of Dunfanaghy, low-key in a region already low-key, at the edge of a bay that curves toward Horn Head. A handful of sailboats tie up here. Sea angling boats still go out. A few holiday cottages clot the coast. The rest is grass, stone, and the sound of wind on water. Nobody comes here by accident. Everyone who comes comes for exactly this: to not be anywhere else.
