The Let’s Roam app runs adventure hunts in cities all over the world, and this Dublin version takes you through landmarks and less-obvious corners of the city over about two hours. You’re answering trivia questions, tackling photo challenges, and following riddles - either working together as a team or competing against each other on the leaderboard.
Each player picks an interactive role at the start: Brainiac, Photographer, or Mapper. That gives everyone a specific job and their own set of challenges to work through, which stops it from becoming a case of one person leading while everyone else just follows along. It works well for birthday groups, bachelorette parties, team days, or just a more active way to see Dublin with a few friends.
There’s no guide and no fixed start time - you run it through the app at your own pace, starting from the Millennium Spire on O’Connell Street. Your digital photos are saved and sent to you after.
Meeting point: Millennium Spire, O’Connell Street, North City, Dublin. All Let’s Roam adventures are self-guided through the app - no reservations needed on the day.
Download the app before you leave your hotel. The Let’s Roam app is free and available on iOS and Android. Getting it set up, logged in, and your hunt activated while you still have good Wi-Fi saves you a few minutes of fiddling on O’Connell Street before you’ve even started.
O’Connell Street is a good launchpad. The Spire itself is hard to miss - it’s the 120-metre stainless steel needle in the middle of one of Europe’s widest streets. From there you’re within easy walking distance of the River Liffey, Temple Bar, Trinity College, and the streets around Grafton Street, which is roughly the territory the hunt covers.
Pair it with lunch on Capel Street. Capel Street has become one of Dublin’s best eating streets over the last few years, with a good range of independent restaurants and cafes. If you’re finishing the hunt mid-afternoon, it’s a ten-minute walk from the city centre and worth the detour for food.
It’s a great first-day option. If you’ve just arrived in Dublin and you’re trying to get your bearings, the scavenger hunt is a practical way to cover a lot of ground quickly. You’ll pick up the geography of the city centre naturally as you go, which makes the rest of your trip easier to navigate.
