Dublin Airport to Lough Rynn Castle Estate Premium Car Service

About This Tour

After a long flight, the last thing you want is to figure out unfamiliar roads on the way to your hotel. This premium car service takes you from Dublin Airport directly to Lough Rynn Castle Estate in County Leitrim, door to door, with nothing to arrange on your end.

Your professional chauffeur meets you at arrivals with 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time, so a delayed flight or a slow baggage carousel won’t throw the timing off. From there it’s a smooth drive of approximately one hour and fifty minutes in a luxury Mercedes-Benz with WiFi, bottled water, device chargers and air conditioning. You arrive at the castle gates in good shape rather than worn out from the road.

For your departure, the same service runs in reverse. Your chauffeur collects you from the castle reception, takes your luggage and gets you to the airport in plenty of time.

Local Tips

Lough Rynn Castle Estate sits in south County Leitrim, a county that tends to surprise visitors who haven’t been before. The estate has its own woodland walks and a walled garden, and the lough itself is visible from several spots on the grounds - a decent way to decompress after a transatlantic flight before dinner.

Carrick-on-Shannon is the county town, about 20 minutes by car from the estate, and it’s worth an evening visit. The town sits on a broad stretch of the Shannon and has a lively restaurant and bar scene that’s grown considerably over the last decade. The main quay area on a summer evening has a good buzz about it.

For the drive itself, the route from Dublin runs northwest on the N4 before cutting across toward Mohill. It takes about one hour and fifty minutes in a clean run, though Friday afternoon traffic out of Dublin can stretch that. If you’re flying in on a Friday, try to land before 2 pm or after 7 pm to avoid the worst of it.

Packing for Leitrim, bring layers regardless of the season. The county gets decent rainfall and the castle is set in open grounds where a bit of wind is normal. A light waterproof in your hand luggage means you can take a walk on the estate even if the weather shifts in the afternoon.

Nearby on IrelandMe

  • Carrick-on-Shannon - The county town on the River Shannon, about 20 minutes from the estate and a good base for an evening meal or a river cruise along the Shannon-Erne Waterway.
  • Mohill - The closest village to the castle, with a couple of traditional pubs and a community that’s been farming the drumlin land around Lough Rynn for generations.
  • Strokestown - A short drive into County Roscommon with a striking Palladian mansion and the National Famine Museum, one of the most honest accounts of the 1840s famine you’ll find anywhere in Ireland.
