Dublin: Forge a Silver Ring Workshop - 2 Locations

About This Tour

There are plenty of ways to bring home a souvenir from Dublin, but very few involve fire, hammers, and a piece of sterling silver you shaped yourself. This two-hour forging workshop has earned a 4.9 out of 5 from over 1,600 guests, and it’s easy to see why. It’s hands-on from the first minute, and the expert tutors make the whole process feel achievable even if you’ve never made anything before.

You start with a flat strip of sterling silver and, over the course of the session, learn to measure, cut, file, shape, and solder it into a finished ring. Your tutor walks you through each step one to one, so you’re never just following along in a crowd. The customisation is the best part: you choose the finger it fits, the texture you apply with the planishing hammer, and the curve of the band. The result is genuinely one of a kind.

The workshop runs at two locations in Dublin 2, on Drury Street and Georges Street, making it easy to fit into a city-centre day. Tea, coffee, and snacks are included, and the atmosphere is relaxed and social. A great date activity, or something different to do with a friend.

Local Tips

Drury Street and Georges Street are both in the heart of the Grafton Street quarter, so you’re well placed for a wander before or after. South William Street, Fade Street, and Wicklow Street are all nearby and have some of the best independent coffee shops and lunch spots in the city.

The finished ring is sterling silver, which means it’ll last. Bring a ring you already wear on the finger you want the new one to fit, or know your ring size before you arrive. Your tutor can help you measure on the day, but coming prepared saves time and lets you get straight into the making.

This works particularly well as a pair activity. Couples, friends, parent and adult child, even a mother-daughter trip day. The one-to-one attention from tutors means two people can work at their own pace and both come out with something they actually made.

Drury Street has some good restaurants and bars nearby if you want to make an evening of it after the workshop. The area is busy with after-work and early-evening crowds from Thursday to Saturday, which adds to the atmosphere.

If you’re buying this as a gift, the experience voucher format travels well and most people find it much more interesting than something taken off a shelf. The voucher covers both locations, so the recipient can pick what suits them.
