At Cnoc na dTobar · 4.5km from Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry
Cnoc na dTobar, meaning Mountain of the Wells, has been a sacred site since prehistoric and medieval times. In 1885, Parish Priest Canon Brosnan constructed fourteen stations of the cross along the ancient mountain trail. The pilgrimage involves walking the stations while praying, ascending to the 690-metre summit. The site features holy wells with water traditionally regarded as having special spiritual properties.
The pilgrimage trailhead is located 4.5km from Cahersiveen town. Participants should allow adequate time and wear suitable walking footwear. The mountain is accessible year-round but weather conditions should be checked, particularly in summer months.
