Private Transfer from Dublin to Galway with Stops

About

This isn’t a straight-line transfer - it’s a 6-hour journey from Dublin to Galway that makes room for sightseeing stops along the way. The company running it is based in Galway and has been doing private driver work in Connemara and around the county for over 15 years.

Every driver is fully insured and licensed by the National Transport Authority of Ireland, and they’re also Fáilte Ireland certified National Tour Guides. That means you’ve got someone in the front seat who actually knows the landscape you’re driving through - the stories, the history, the bits worth slowing down for. WiFi is on board for the journey too.

Local Tips

Galway’s Latin Quarter is the beating heart of the city. Quay Street, Cross Street, and the lanes around Kirwan’s Lane are packed with good pubs, restaurants, and music venues. If you arrive in the evening, it’s worth dropping your bags and heading straight there - the atmosphere picks up quickly and the trad sessions start early in some spots.

The drive west from Dublin changes character after Athlone. The landscape flattens out around the Shannon and then gets more dramatic as you approach Connaught. Your driver-guide can point out what’s worth noting as you go, so keep an ear open even if you’re watching the scenery pass.

If your stops include the Connemara area, dress in layers. The weather shifts quickly out west, and what starts as a bright morning can turn blustery by lunchtime. A light waterproof in your bag means you can actually enjoy the stop rather than sheltering in the vehicle.

Galway city is compact and very walkable. Once you’re dropped at your accommodation, almost everything in the centre is within 15 minutes on foot. The Spanish Arch, the Long Walk along the Corrib, and Eyre Square are all close to each other - a good way to stretch your legs after a day in the car.
