Banbridge: Game of Thrones Studio Entry & Tea with Transfers

About

The world’s only official Game of Thrones Studio Tour is at Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, one of Northern Ireland’s key filming locations - and it genuinely delivers. The sets are preserved exactly as they were when filming ended, so you’re walking through the real thing, not a recreation built for tourists.

Expert guides take you through how the series was made, showing you what went into bringing George R.R. Martin’s world to screen. You’ll walk the Great Hall of Winterfell - where Jon Snow was proclaimed King in the North - and step into Dragonstone’s chambers and the King’s Landing throne room. Props, costumes, concept art, sketches, and behind-the-scenes footage are all part of the experience, and you can handle some of the visual effects equipment yourself. Original costumes from Cersei Lannister’s wardrobe and the Night’s Watch are on display alongside the set pieces.

After the tour, you head to The Studio Restaurant for the Seven Kingdoms Afternoon Tea, which is included in your ticket price. The themed menu covers:

  • Red Keep Scones - mini scones with cream, hedgerow jam, and butter
  • Hot Pie’s Wild Pig Sausage Rolls - puff pastry with apple and onion chutney
  • King’s Guard Caramel Square - caramel layered with milk chocolate and shortbread
  • Stark Fireside Shortbread - traditional all-butter shortbread
  • Sansa’s Lemon Cake - soft sponge cake with confit lemon
  • Wildling Spiced Chocolate Bonbon - chocolate ganache
  • Dragon’s Eggs - chocolate crunch treats

Optional transfers are available from Dublin or Belfast, making this an easy day trip from either city without needing to navigate yourself.

Local Tips

The sets feel more impressive in person than they look in photos. Scale is something that photographs struggle to capture - the Great Hall of Winterfell in particular is enormous, and standing in it gives you a completely different sense of those scenes from the show. Give yourself time in each space rather than rushing through.

Book your transfer from Dublin or Belfast if you can. Banbridge isn’t especially well connected by public transport, and driving adds the question of parking. The transfer option removes all of that and means you can focus entirely on the visit without logistics getting in the way.

The afternoon tea is a proper sit-down meal, not a snack. The Seven Kingdoms menu is generous, and it’s included in your ticket, so there’s no reason to rush it. The food is thoughtfully themed without being gimmicky, and The Studio Restaurant is a good place to decompress and talk through what you’ve just seen.

If you’re a fan of the series, read up on the filming locations in Northern Ireland before you go. Linen Mill Studios was central to production, but much of the outdoor filming happened across Antrim, Down and other parts of the north. Knowing the broader context makes the studio experience richer, and it might inspire you to explore some of those locations on a separate day.

Northern Ireland punches well above its weight as a filming destination. Beyond Game of Thrones, the region has hosted productions ranging from Dracula Untold to Derry Girls. If you find yourself drawn into that side of things during your visit, there’s more to discover than one studio tour can cover.
