K Club Straffan to Dromoland Castle

About This Tour

Moving between two of Ireland’s most celebrated estates, you’d want the journey itself to feel like part of the experience. This private chauffeur transfer connects the K Club in Straffan, County Kildare with Dromoland Castle in County Clare, covering around three hours of some genuinely lovely Irish countryside.

Your certified professional chauffeur meets you at the K Club reception, takes care of your luggage, and gets everything loaded into a spotless Mercedes-Benz. The car comes with WiFi, bottled water, mobile device chargers and full air conditioning, so whether you want to catch up on emails, take a nap, or just watch the counties roll by, you’re sorted. There’s a complimentary 15-minute service stop built into the journey at a good point along the route.

The K Club sits on the banks of the Liffey in County Kildare, one of Ireland’s most acclaimed golf and spa resorts. Dromoland Castle, on the other end of the run, is a 16th-century baronial castle on the shores of Lough Dromoland in County Clare. Two very different estates, both worth arriving at in good shape.

The price is fixed. No surprises after booking, no hidden costs, no stress.

Local Tips

Build in some time on the Clare side before check-in. The drive from Kildare to County Clare takes you through the heart of the midlands and then into Munster. If you’re not on a tight schedule, ask your chauffeur about the best point to stop and stretch your legs properly, beyond the standard 15-minute break. The road through Limerick and into Newmarket-on-Fergus is worth taking slowly on a clear day.

The K Club is worth a proper look on your way out. If you’re checking out in the morning, try to allow time to walk the grounds or grab breakfast in the clubhouse rather than rushing to the door for your chauffeur. The estate is genuinely beautiful along the Liffey river corridor, and once you’re in the back of a car heading west you won’t see it again.

Dromoland Castle has its own lough right on the grounds. The grounds include Lough Dromoland, and if you arrive in the afternoon there’s usually a good hour or two of light left for a walk before dinner. Worth planning your arrival with that in mind rather than landing just in time for the restaurant.

Gratuities aren’t included, but they’re appreciated. Your chauffeur is a certified professional handling your luggage and managing your whole door-to-door journey. A tip at the end is at your discretion, but it’s customary and genuinely welcomed.

Luggage is worth thinking about in advance. The saloon carries 2 carry-on bags and 2 checked suitcases, or up to 3 medium-sized suitcases. If you’re travelling with a lot, flag it when you book so the operator can make sure the vehicle suits your group’s needs.
