The Laughter Lounge is Ireland’s biggest comedy club, and it sells out every weekend for a reason. Four Irish headline comedians take the stage each night, and on top of that an international act flies in every weekend. It’s three hours of properly good craic in a room full of people who’ve come to laugh.
The venue is fully table-serviced, so you sit down, get your drinks sorted, and let the show come to you. Arrive before 7.30pm and you’ll get a free craft beer or seltzer to start the night. There’s also a free photo booth - the pictures get uploaded to the Laughter Lounge Facebook page each weekend, so you’ll have something to show for the night. It draws visitors from all over the world, but it’s the kind of place where everyone in the room is having the same experience together, which is what makes it work.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, with accessible surfaces and transportation options nearby. Service animals are welcome. The show runs for approximately 3 hours.
Get there before 7.30pm for the free drink. It’s a simple perk but worth planning around. Most tables fill up quickly, so arriving early gets you a better seat as well as the complimentary craft beer or seltzer.
Irish comedy is its own thing. If you haven’t seen live Irish stand-up before, you’re in for a particular style - self-deprecating, quick, often political, and almost always warm. The comedians are drawn from the circuit that produces acts who regularly headline in the UK and the US. On a good night, which this usually is, the room really moves.
The international act varies week to week. The Laughter Lounge brings in a guest act from the international circuit each weekend on top of the four Irish headliners. If you’re curious who’s on when you’re visiting, it’s worth checking the venue’s schedule before you book.
Table service means you don’t have to leave your seat. This sounds like a small thing but it makes a real difference over three hours. The bar service keeps up well, and the layout means you’re always facing the stage.
The show isn’t free cancellation. Worth noting before you book - check the cancellation terms if your plans have any chance of changing. That said, at €31 a ticket it’s one of the better value nights out Dublin offers.
