This is a private, one-hour photoshoot along the Dun Laoghaire seafront with a professional travel photographer. It’s LGBTQ+ friendly and open to all couples - whether you’re celebrating an engagement, doing a pre-wedding shoot, or planning a surprise proposal.
If you’ve never felt particularly comfortable in front of a camera, that’s fine - most people feel the same way at the start. The photographer guides you through natural poses and relaxed prompts so the photos feel like you rather than a performance. They know Dun Laoghaire well and will move you through the best spots along the coast to get the most out of the light and the scenery.
Within three to four days of your shoot, your images are professionally edited and uploaded to a private online gallery with a download link and password. You take home at least 30 high-resolution images at 3000x3000 HD - all the good ones, with no artificial limits on how many you receive.
Your route takes you through some of Dun Laoghaire’s most photogenic spots over the hour: a pass by Dublin port, a 15-minute stop at a local café for a coffee or tea, two seafront viewpoints (one is a 10-minute stop), People’s Park (10 minutes), and passes by Lexicon Library, the National Maritime Museum of Ireland, and the James Joyce Tower and Museum.
Dun Laoghaire has a particular quality of light in the late afternoon. The harbour faces east and the Victorian pier arms frame the view back toward the city beautifully in the last few hours before sunset. If you have any flexibility on timing, it’s worth asking the photographer what time of day they’d recommend for your shoot.
The pier walk is one of the most pleasant in the Dublin area - two Victorian granite piers stretching out into Dublin Bay, with Howth Head visible across the water on a clear day. The photographer knows which stretches work best for portraits and which spots tend to have fewer passersby.
The James Joyce Tower at Sandycove is close by and worth a visit either before or after your shoot. Joyce lived there briefly in 1904, and it features in the opening chapter of Ulysses. The National Maritime Museum of Ireland is also on your route and tells the story of the Dun Laoghaire harbour and its role in Irish maritime history.
If you’re doing a surprise proposal, it’s worth having a quick conversation with the photographer beforehand so they’re in position and ready when the moment happens. They’ve done this before and can advise on the best spot along the route for something memorable without looking staged.
People’s Park on a good day is a treat. The Victorian park sits just behind the seafront and hosts a food market on Sundays that’s worth timing your visit around. Your photographer can incorporate it into the shoot or you can browse after the session wraps up.
