01 Two hours at the cliffs is the useful minimum
A listing can claim the Cliffs of Moher while giving you little more than a photo stop. Two hours lets you leave the visitor-centre crowd, walk a meaningful section of the path and wait out a passing shower. The strongest Dublin itineraries protect that time instead of adding another minor stop for the sake of a longer list.
Weather matters, but a grey day is not automatically a wasted one. Wind is the bigger issue because it can close exposed paths. No operator controls the view, so judge the product by the time it allows and what else the route gives you if the Atlantic disappears into cloud.
02 Galway, Bunratty or more time in transit?
Galway is the best second stop for a first-time visitor because two hours gives you a compact city walk, food and a very different atmosphere from the cliffs. Bunratty suits travellers who would rather add a heritage site and stay within Clare. The rail option appeals to people who actively enjoy train travel; it is not a shortcut.
Price should be the final filter, not the first. Across a 13-hour day, paying for the route and group size you actually want is usually better value than saving a small amount and spending half the day wishing you had chosen differently.
