When you come through arrivals at Dublin Airport, your professional chauffeur will already be there waiting, name card in hand. They’ll take your luggage and get you settled into the car, and then you’ve got around three hours of Irish countryside ahead of you as you head north toward Donegal Town.
It’s a proper door-to-door service - no transfers to catch, no shared stops, no navigating the motorway network on unfamiliar roads. You travel directly, in a private vehicle, just your group.
If you need the return journey too, book the same transfer for your departure date and let the operator know your pick-up time, pick-up location and drop-off details when you do.
This is a private transfer - just your group. Infant seats are available on request, and small children can travel in a pram or stroller. Suitable for all fitness levels. Conducted in English.
The drive north takes roughly three hours. You’ll come up through County Cavan and Fermanagh before dropping into Donegal, and the landscape shifts noticeably the further north you go - flat agricultural land giving way to drumlins, lakes and eventually the wilder Atlantic fringe. It’s a good drive to do in daylight the first time if you can manage it.
Donegal Town itself is small and easy to navigate on foot. The Diamond, which is the town square, is the natural centre of things - a few good restaurants, some traditional pubs, and the ruins of Donegal Castle right on the river Eske. Most visitors find that a couple of days in the town is plenty before heading out into the wider county.
Pack for the weather. Donegal has a reputation as one of Ireland’s wetter counties, and it earns it. Even in summer, a light waterproof is worth having in your bag. The upside is that it keeps the crowds down compared to Kerry or Galway, and the light after rain in Donegal is something else entirely.
For the return to Dublin Airport. Three hours is the baseline, but add a comfortable buffer for early flights. Your chauffeur can advise on pickup times based on your departure slot - it’s worth confirming this when you book the return leg rather than leaving it to the morning.
