Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name card - or collects you from your Dublin City location - and drives you to Harvey’s Point on Lough Eske in a Mercedes Benz E220 Executive Class. The operator monitors your flight and adjusts the pick-up time to match your actual arrival, and you have one hour of complimentary waiting time at the airport built in.
The vehicle suits up to 2 passengers with luggage and is fully licensed and insured under the Irish Government Transport Authority.
Harvey’s Point sits on the shore of Lough Eske, just outside Donegal town - about three hours north of Dublin on the N15. The route takes you up through Cavan and Fermanagh before crossing into Donegal, and the last stretch along the lake is one of the more satisfying arrivals in Irish tourism. Lough Eske is a sheltered, wooded lake at the foot of the Blue Stack Mountains, and the hotel is right on its edge.
Harvey’s Point is a four-star country house hotel that has won Ireland’s Hotel of the Year on multiple occasions. It’s known for its restaurant, its setting on the lake, and for being genuinely quiet and unhurried in a way that’s harder to find in more heavily visited parts of Ireland. Donegal is worth the extra hours in the car for exactly that reason.
Donegal town is about a 10-minute drive from Harvey’s Point and it’s a good base for exploring the county. The town has a well-preserved castle, a busy square lined with shops and cafes, and easy access to the coast. Donegal Bay stretches south from the town toward Sligo, and the headlands around Murvagh and St John’s Point are worth an afternoon.
The Slieve League cliffs are about an hour’s drive west along the coast road through Killybegs. At nearly 600 metres above the Atlantic they’re among the highest sea cliffs in Europe - not as well known as the Cliffs of Moher but considerably more dramatic if you can handle the narrow access roads. Killybegs itself is Ireland’s largest fishing port and usually has the harbour activity to show for it.
