Your professional chauffeur meets you at Dublin Airport arrivals or at your Dublin City location, takes your luggage, and gets you to Martinstown House in Co. Kildare without any hassle. It’s fully private - just your group in the vehicle, travelling directly to your destination with no detours or shared stops.
The same service runs in reverse for the return trip to Dublin Airport or Dublin City. Let the operator know your pick-up location when you book and they’ll have everything arranged.
Martinstown House sits in the heart of Co. Kildare, which is flat, green, and deeply tied to the Irish thoroughbred industry. The Curragh racecourse is only a short drive from the house, and if there’s a race meeting on during your visit it’s an experience that’s very different from what most visitors expect - relaxed, local, and good fun even if you don’t know much about horses.
The Japanese Gardens and St. Fiachra’s Garden at the Irish National Stud are worth an afternoon. They’re just outside Kildare town and genuinely peaceful - the Japanese Gardens in particular are considered among the finest in Europe and were laid out over a hundred years ago. Not at all the obvious tourist trap they might sound like.
Kildare town itself is quieter than the county’s reputation suggests, which is part of the appeal. The Cathedral of St. Brigid has a round tower you can climb for a view across the flat Kildare plain, and the main street has a few decent cafes for a coffee and a scone if you’re passing through.
The Wicklow Mountains are only about 45 minutes east of Martinstown, making Glendalough a realistic half-day option if you want a contrast to the Kildare lowlands. The monastic ruins there are some of the most atmospheric in Ireland, particularly in the early morning before the tour coaches arrive.
