Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall at Dublin Airport holding a name card, so there’s no confusion at the exit. Your flight is tracked electronically, and the pickup time adjusts to your actual landing - useful if you’ve been delayed in the air.
You get one hour of complimentary waiting time at the airport. The transfer runs in a Mercedes-Benz E220 Executive Class - comfortable, air-conditioned, and fully licensed and insured under the Irish Government Transport Authority. It accommodates up to three passengers with luggage: two standard 20 kg suitcases plus two small cases. Bottled water is on board, and all fees, taxes, and tolls are included in the fare.
Mount Juliet sits near Thomastown in County Kilkenny, about 110 kilometres south-west of Dublin Airport. The estate is set along the River Nore and covers around 500 acres of parkland, so the approach through the estate gates from the public road is a fairly dramatic introduction to the place.
The Jack Nicklaus-designed championship golf course is the headline attraction for many guests, but Kilkenny itself is well worth a day or an evening. The city is compact and easy to walk - Kilkenny Castle, the medieval mile, and the Butler Gallery all sit within a short distance of each other. Kilkenny has a genuinely good food culture too, with producers’ markets and restaurants that punch above the town’s size.
The River Nore running through the Mount Juliet estate connects a whole string of Kilkenny villages - Inistioge, Graiguenamanagh, and Thomastown are all along the river and worth a look if you have a car and a free afternoon. Inistioge in particular is one of the prettiest village squares in the south-east.
If you’re arriving for a golf trip, Kilkenny’s other courses are within easy reach. The region sits in a cluster of quality parkland tracks - Kilkenny Golf Club and Mount Wolseley are both reasonable drives from the estate for a day away from the home course.
