Local Tips

Dublin Airport is on the north side of the city, about 12 kilometres from the city centre. The M50 and M1 motorways connect it quickly to most parts of Dublin, but traffic patterns vary a lot by time of day. If you’re arriving on a weekday morning or heading out during the evening rush, it’s worth building in a little extra time. Your driver will know the roads well.

If you’re staying in the city centre, your hotel is most likely south of the Liffey. The main visitor areas - Temple Bar, Grafton Street, St Stephen’s Green - are all on the southside, while the northside has O’Connell Street, the Writers Museum, and the Garden of Remembrance. Either way, the airport transfer is a short ride once you’re on the motorway.

Dublin’s climate is mild but changeable, especially if you’re arriving from somewhere warmer. Rain is possible at any time of year, so having a layer handy in your carry-on is never a bad idea. That said, Dublin can also surprise you with a clear blue sky, and the Georgian architecture along Merrion Square or the North Circular Road looks genuinely lovely in good light.

The transfer works both ways. If you’re heading to the airport for a departure, your driver can pick you up from your hotel or Dublin address and take you directly to the terminal. Free cancellation applies if your plans change.
