This is a full day in Dublin with someone who actually lives there. Your host - matched to you based on your interests - spends 7 to 8 hours showing you their favourite parts of the city: where to find the best Irish food, the spots they love that don’t make the guidebooks, and what makes Dublin tick as a place people are genuinely proud of.
Within 24 hours of booking, you’ll receive a short questionnaire about your personality and interests. Based on your answers, you’ll be matched with a like-minded local host. You’ll communicate with them directly to sketch out an itinerary - but the day stays flexible, so if you want to change direction mid-afternoon, just say so. If you’re staying centrally, your host can meet you on foot at your accommodation. Otherwise you’ll agree on a central meeting point together.
The only guarantee is that you’ll have great craic. If you don’t know what that means, ask your host - it’ll probably be one of the first things you find out.
As this is a private, personalised experience, the exact places you visit will be shaped by your host based on your interests. Sample stops might include St Patrick’s Cathedral, St Stephen’s Green, The Brazen Head (for authentic Irish stew or a Guinness), The Cobblestone (for folk music), and Kilmainham Gaol - but your day is genuinely your own.
Meeting point: Your host will meet you at your chosen accommodation (if centrally located) or at the central meeting point you agree together. No private vehicle is included.
Be honest on the questionnaire. The matching process works because the questions are designed to find you a host whose Dublin genuinely overlaps with what you’re looking for. If you’re interested in the literary side of the city, say so. If you’d rather spend the afternoon in a great local caff than in a museum, say that too. The more specific your answers, the better the match tends to be.
The Brazen Head on Bridge Street is Dublin’s oldest pub, in operation since 1198. If your host takes you there, you’ll understand why it appears on so many sample itineraries - it’s not a tourist trap, it’s just genuinely atmospheric and serves a solid bowl of Irish stew. Worth knowing in advance so you can decide whether it belongs in your day.
Kilmainham Gaol is one of the most powerful historical sites in Ireland. It’s where many of the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising were executed by British forces. If Irish history is part of what draws you to Dublin, mention it explicitly in your questionnaire - your host can structure the day so that the context builds properly rather than arriving at the Gaol without the background.
The Cobblestone in Smithfield is one of the best places in Dublin to hear traditional Irish music in a genuine setting. Sessions happen most evenings and on weekend afternoons. It’s not a performance - musicians gather and play for themselves and each other, and visitors are welcome to listen. Your host will know the schedule and can factor it in if live music is on your list.
Food and drink aren’t included in the price, but your host will know exactly where to eat for whatever you’re in the mood for - and at prices that reflect where locals actually go rather than what the tourist menus charge. That inside knowledge alone tends to be worth the day.
