Your driver collects you at Dublin Airport or in the city, and takes you directly to the castle in County Mayo, with WiFi and bottled water on board and all fees and taxes covered in the price.

The transfer works in either direction, so whether you’re arriving at the castle for a stay or heading back to Dublin afterwards, the booking process is the same. The service is conducted in English.

Local Tips

The drive from Dublin to Ashford Castle is one of Ireland’s better long transfers. You head west out of the city through County Meath, then into County Roscommon before dropping south into Mayo. The landscape changes noticeably as you go - from flat midlands farmland to the wilder, greener west. Most of the journey takes around two to two and a half hours depending on traffic and your exact pickup point.

Ashford Castle sits on the shores of Lough Corrib in Cong, County Mayo - a location that tells you something about the journey before you arrive. Lough Corrib is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland, and the castle grounds stretch right to the water’s edge. The village of Cong itself is tiny and very quiet, and was the filming location for the 1952 John Ford film The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara - there are signs of that around the village if you get time to explore.

If you’re arriving at the castle for the first time, the meet-and-greet service takes the stress out of arrival. You don’t need to navigate or figure out pickup logistics; your driver handles it from the moment you land. For a stay at a property of this level, that seamless arrival matters.

County Mayo has a lot more to offer if you have any time beyond the castle itself. Croagh Patrick - the conical mountain west of Westport that has been a pilgrimage site for over fifteen centuries - is about forty minutes from Cong. The Clew Bay coastline around Westport is genuinely beautiful, and the town itself has a reputation for good food and traditional music.

On the return to Dublin, if you’re heading for Dublin Airport rather than the city centre, give your driver a clear indication of your terminal and flight time. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate buildings, and Ashford to the airport is a journey of around two hours on a clear run.
