Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall with a name card, or collects you from wherever you’re staying in Dublin city. Your flight is tracked electronically so the timing adjusts to match your landing, and there’s a full hour of complimentary waiting time built into airport pickups.
The journey south to Castlemartyr takes around three hours in a Mercedes Benz E220 Executive Class. The car seats up to 3 passengers with luggage (2 standard 20kg cases plus 2 small suitcases), and both the vehicle and chauffeur are fully licensed and insured under the Irish Government Transport Authority. All fees, taxes, and tolls are covered in the price you see.
Castlemartyr village is quiet but charming. The hotel sits on a 220-acre estate that takes in an 18th-century manor house and the ruins of a 13th-century castle right in the grounds. It’s worth a walk around the castle ruin in the early morning when you’re likely to have it to yourself.
East Cork is worth exploring beyond the estate. The nearby towns of Midleton and Cobh are both within 20 minutes by car. Midleton has the Jameson Distillery Experience and a Saturday farmers’ market that’s genuinely good. Cobh is where the Titanic made its last stop before open water, and the heritage museum there tells the story plainly.
The drive down through the Tipperary hills is one of the nicer motorway routes in Ireland. Your driver takes the M8 south, and on a clear day you get long views across the Golden Vale as you pass Cashier. It’s not a scenic detour, just a naturally good-looking stretch of country.
Book the spa in advance if that’s part of your plan. The spa at Castlemartyr is popular year-round, and weekends fill up quickly. Calling ahead before your journey saves you disappointment on arrival.
