Whether you’re landing at Dublin Airport or heading off from the city, your chauffeur is there when you need them - either at the arrivals terminal or at your Dublin city address. From there, you travel in comfort directly to Newcastle in the UK, with Wi-Fi, bottled water, and all fees and taxes taken care of.
The return journey works just as smoothly: book the same transfer for your trip home and let the operator know your pick-up time and location.
Newcastle, County Down sits in the shadow of the Mournes. The Mourne Mountains drop almost straight into the sea here, and on a clear day the views from Dundrum Bay are something you don’t forget in a hurry. If you’re arriving with any energy left after the journey, even a short walk up part of Slieve Donard - the highest peak in the Mournes - gives you a perspective that’s hard to match anywhere on the island.
The town itself is a proper seaside resort. Newcastle has a wide sandy beach, an amusement park that’s been there for generations, and a promenade lined with fish and chip shops and ice cream. It’s cheerfully unpretentious and very popular with families from Belfast at weekends - plan accordingly if you want the beach to yourself.
Tollymore Forest Park is worth an hour. Just outside the town, Tollymore is a beautiful wooded demesne that follows the Shimna River through gorges and old stone bridges. It’s one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones, which draws visitors, but it was worth visiting long before that and still is.
Dundrum is a few minutes north and has a proper castle. Dundrum Castle is one of the finest Norman ruins in Ulster, sitting on a hill above the village with views over the bay. It’s managed by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and admission is free.
