Private Shore Excursion Dublin with Guinness and Whiskey

About This Tour

You’re in port for the day, so let’s make the most of it. Your Whiskey & Beer Specialist Host meets you off the ship, gets you settled into executive transport, and heads straight for the Guinness neighbourhood.

Most people do the Guinness Storehouse on a self-guided ticket. Here you’ll get a proper guided experience with your expert alongside, finishing with a pint in the Gravity Bar - the full-length windows up there give you a 360-degree view over the city that’s genuinely hard to beat. After that, you cross over to Pearse Lyons Distillery for a private bespoke visit, sampling a Pearse 5-year-old blend, their 12-year-old single malt blend, and a Rhubarb Dublin Gin. Irish whiskey has been quietly reclaiming its place on the world stage, and this is a first-hand look at that story from people who live and breathe it.

There’s free time in the city centre after the tastings - your host will point you towards lunch spots and places worth exploring on your own. Then it’s back to the harbour in good time, with no last-minute dash required.

Local Tips

Book the Gravity Bar time into your expectations. The bar at the top of the Guinness Storehouse is genuinely one of the best views in Dublin - city skyline, the Wicklow Mountains in the distance on a clear day, and the whole Liberties neighbourhood spread out below you. Don’t rush through it.

Pearse Lyons Distillery is set inside a converted church. That’s worth knowing before you arrive - the distillery is built into a 19th-century church in the Liberties, and the setting makes the whole tasting feel a bit more interesting than a standard industrial warehouse experience.

Irish whiskey and Irish whisky are spelled differently for a reason. Your host will get into this, but the short version is that the Irish spelling (with the ‘e’) became a deliberate differentiator from Scotch whisky during the 19th century. It’s a small detail that tells you a lot about the competitiveness between the two traditions.

If you have lunch time in the city, the Liberties neighbourhood around the Guinness Storehouse has improved considerably. There are good spots within walking distance that are well off the tourist circuit - ask your host before you part ways, they’ll know what’s open and worth it on the day.

Getting back to the ship is built into the itinerary. Your host tracks the time and makes sure you’re not cutting it close. That said, it’s worth knowing the ship’s departure time yourself so you can relax during the free city time rather than watching the clock.
