Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Semi-Final - Antrim

At TBC · Co. Antrim

Antrim Camogie All-Ireland Intermediate semi-final

Antrim’s camógs arrive at the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Championship semi-final on the back of a group campaign that earned them a direct path here - no quarter-final detour required. They topped their group after two convincing wins, including a 2-16 to 1-9 defeat of Kerry in Ahoghill, and now face one of the counties that came through the opposite side of the draw. For anyone who follows Ulster camogie, or simply enjoys watching the game played at pace, this is a serious afternoon out.

What to expect

The Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Championship sits at the second tier of the All-Ireland camogie pyramid, one below senior, and the standard is genuinely high. Antrim’s group run was built on a blistering early tempo - they led Kerry 2-9 to 0-3 at half-time - and scorer Róisín McCormick has been in fine form all summer, finishing with 12 points against Kerry, seven of them from placed balls. Intermediate semi-finals tend to draw tight, committed crowds with plenty of Ulster support travelling for an Antrim fixture. Expect a physical contest with real championship edge. The winner progresses to the All-Ireland final on Sunday 9 August.

Venue and throw-in time for this fixture are listed as TBC at time of writing - the Camogie Association typically confirms intermediate venues in the fortnight before the match. Check aontroimcamogie.com and the official Camogie Association website for the confirmed location.

Getting there

The confirmed venue will determine exact travel arrangements. Belfast is served from Dublin by Enterprise rail (roughly two hours) and Translink/Bus Eireann coaches. If the fixture falls at a county ground outside the city - Loughgiel and Ahoghill are used regularly by Antrim GAA - a car is the most practical option. Rural GAA grounds generally have on-site parking with a small matchday levy.

While you’re in Belfast

A camogie semi-final makes a fine centrepiece for a weekend in the north. Belfast’s cathedral quarter and the Titanic museum are both close, and the Causeway Coast is under an hour. There is more to see in Belfast and across Co. Antrim.
