What to Expect

The second annual Burren Archaeology Festival, organised by the Burrenbeo Trust, takes place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June 2026 in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare. Saturday focuses on expert talks from leading Irish archaeologists including Karl Brady, Shane Delaney, Jake Justice, Maggie Ronayne and Dr Ann Lynch, sharing recent discoveries from the Burren’s remarkable limestone landscape. Sunday shifts to hands-on and family activities including castle tours, LEGO archaeology workshops with a certified LEGO professional, stone tool-making, wool spinning, replica artefact handling and the BIG DIG - a simulated excavation for children aged 5 to 12 (booking essential for children’s workshops).

Getting There

Ballyvaughan is on the north Clare coast, approximately 30 km north of Ennis on the N67. Parking is available in the village. Bus services from Ennis are limited; a car is recommended.
