At Coleman's Bar · Laragh, A75 X891 Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan
Coleman’s Summer Festival is a three-day outdoor music weekend at Coleman’s Bar in Laragh, just outside Castleblayney, running from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 July 2026. The festival draws on folk, trad, and roots music, with six acts spread across the three evenings and DJs keeping things going until late each night. It suits anyone who wants a proper summer session in a county pub setting rather than a big commercial festival - the crowd tends to be local and relaxed, and the bar has the kind of lived-in warmth that makes a weekend like this work.
Each evening brings two or three acts to the Coleman’s stage, with a different flavour across the weekend. Friday 10 July opens with One For The Road and Bula Beag. Saturday 11 July brings The Highstool Prophets, The Fuzzy Burgers, and Key & Strings. Sunday 12 July closes out with All Folk’d Up, Gary Óg, and McCourt & Murray. DJ sets follow each night.
Coleman’s of Laragh is a family-run Irish pub with over a century behind it, well known in Monaghan for good pints and a genuine atmosphere. The beer garden comes into its own in summer. Tickets are available in advance through Eventbrite; if tickets are not on sale online, cash is accepted at the door on the night for general admission, subject to capacity. No refunds.
Laragh is a small townland a few kilometres outside Castleblayney town. Castleblayney itself sits on the N2 Dublin - Monaghan road, roughly 130 km from Dublin and 30 km south of Monaghan town. The most straightforward drive from Dublin takes under two hours via the M1 and N2. Bus Eireann serves Castleblayney on several routes from Dublin and Monaghan, but Laragh is outside the town so you will need a car or a taxi for the last stretch. Parking is available at the venue.
Castleblayney sits on the shore of Lough Muckno, which has looped walks, water sports, and a forest park worth a look if you are arriving early in the day. There is more to see in Castleblayney and across Co. Monaghan.
