At Artlink at Fort Dunree · Fort Dunree, Buncrana, Co. Donegal
Artlink’s 2026 residency programme invites professional visual artists in any discipline - including sculpture, photography, painting, installation, and video - to spend four weeks between April and September developing new work inspired by the site and landscape of the Inishowen Peninsula and Fort Dunree. Resident artists actively create within the studio space and hold open studio hours weekly, allowing the public to observe the creative process and engage directly with artists and their emerging work. Multiple residencies run throughout the season with different artists.
This is an artist working studio space and exhibition opportunity rather than a traditional gallery exhibition. Visitors can drop in during open studio hours (typically one day per week minimum) to watch artists work and purchase artworks if desired. The experience combines landscape inspiration from the dramatic Inishowen Peninsula with professional contemporary art practice. Different artists rotate through the residency programme throughout the April to September season.
Fort Dunree is located on the Inishowen Peninsula near Buncrana, approximately 45 minutes north of Letterkenny. Access is via the R238 coastal road with parking available at the fort. The location overlooks Lough Swilly with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
