Clonmany Festival

Clonmany Festival 2026

One of the longest-running country music festivals in Ireland, Clonmany Festival marks its 57th year in 2026 with a full week of live music, family activities, and community events in the small Inishowen village of Clonmany. It draws thousands of visitors every August - a mix of county regulars, holiday makers, and country music fans making the trip from across Ireland. If you like an unpretentious, open-air festival where the music is front and centre and the crowd actually knows the songs, this is well worth the drive north.

What to expect

Each evening during festival week, Ireland’s top country acts perform live on an outdoor stage. Past years have seen artists like Mike Denver and Michael English on the bill - the calibre of act is consistently high for a rural festival of this size. Nightly concerts run for most of the week, with Sunday typically offering a full-day programme across two sessions.

Beyond the music, the daytime schedule keeps families busy with talent competitions, treasure hunts, pet shows, cycling events, jiving competitions, and a funfair with rides for younger children. The whole thing is run with strong community involvement, which shows - it has the feel of a festival that has genuinely earned its place in the Irish summer calendar rather than one that was invented recently.

Tickets for nightly concerts are around €10 per person, payable at the gate by cash or card. Children under 12 get in free when with an adult. A Sunday all-day pass covering both concerts is typically €15. Daytime events are generally free or low cost.

Getting there

Clonmany sits in the centre of the Inishowen Peninsula, around 40 km north of Letterkenny. From Letterkenny, take the N13 towards Buncrana and then follow the R238 north through Buncrana and up through Clonmany village - the drive takes roughly 45 to 50 minutes. From Derry city it is about an hour via the same N13 route.

There is no regular public transport serving Clonmany directly, so a car is the practical option. Parking within the village is limited during festival week; arriving a little early and parking on the approach roads is common practice.

While you’re in Clonmany

The village sits in a quiet valley close to Mamore Gap, one of the more dramatic mountain passes in Donegal, and is only a short drive from the beaches of Tullagh Bay and the clifftop views above Dunaff Head. There is more to see in Clonmany and across Co. Donegal.
