Allday and Everything: A Diana Chambers Retrospective

At KCAT Arts Centre · Mill Lane, Callan, Co. Kilkenny

Artwork on display at KCAT Arts Centre, Callan

KCAT Arts Centre in Callan hosts a retrospective of artist Diana Chambers, Allday and Everything, as part of Kilkenny Arts Festival’s 2026 visual art programme. The show runs from Thursday 6 to Sunday 16 August, open Monday to Saturday for the length of the festival, and gives festival-goers a reason to make the short trip out from Kilkenny city to Callan, a market town better known locally for its Augustinian friary and Tony O’Malley’s birthplace.

What to expect

KCAT, the Kilkenny Collective for Arts Talent, is a working studio and gallery built around supported artists with intellectual disabilities, and its Callan base regularly turns out work that sits comfortably in a festival programme rather than being treated as a side note. This retrospective gathers together a body of work by Diana Chambers under the title Allday and Everything, giving festival visitors a chance to see a career’s worth of output in one hang rather than a single new piece. Because it runs across the full ten days of Kilkenny Arts Festival rather than for a single evening, there is no pressure to fit it into the festival’s busiest weekend, it can be visited on a quieter weekday during opening hours instead.

Getting there

KCAT Arts Centre is on Mill Lane in Callan, about 16km southwest of Kilkenny city on the R699. There is no rail service to Callan; the most straightforward way to get there without a car is the Bus Éireann or local bus route linking Callan to Kilkenny city, with a short walk from the town centre to Mill Lane.

While you’re in Callan

Callan is a small market town with its own medieval history, including the ruins of an Augustinian friary, and is the birthplace of painter Tony O’Malley, whose work is showing concurrently at Butler Gallery in Kilkenny city during the same festival. There is more to see in Callan and across Co. Kilkenny.
