Kilkenny - All-Ireland Senior Camogie Semi-Final

At FBD Semple Stadium · Semple Stadium, Thurles, Co. Tipperary

Kilkenny All-Ireland Senior Camogie Semi-Final at FBD Semple Stadium

Kilkenny camogie takes centre stage on 25 July when the Cats contest the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final at FBD Semple Stadium in Thurles. This is one of the biggest days in the camogie calendar - a knockout game where everything is on the line and a place in the All-Ireland Final at Croke Park on 9 August awaits the winners. If you have even a passing interest in Gaelic games, a semi-final at Semple is a proper afternoon out: fast, physical, and played with an intensity that stands up alongside any sport you can name.

What to expect

The 2026 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship has brought together the country’s top county sides across two groups, with quarter-finals on 4 and 5 July deciding who joins the two automatic qualifiers from Group 1. Kilkenny - always among the game’s most decorated counties - must come through the quarter-final stage to earn their place here. The semi-final day at Semple Stadium typically sees a double-header, with both senior semi-finals played back-to-back, making for a full afternoon of championship camogie. The match times are confirmed closer to the date, so check camogie.ie or the Camogie Association’s social channels before you travel.

FBD Semple Stadium is the second largest GAA ground in Ireland after Croke Park, with a capacity of over 45,000. It is a serious venue - open, atmospheric, and purpose-built for days like this.

Getting there

Thurles is in County Tipperary, roughly 140km from Dublin and 80km from Cork city. By car, it sits just off the M8 motorway (Dublin - Cork), making it straightforward to reach from most of Leinster and Munster. Parking is available at Thurles Greyhound Stadium and along Racecourse Road, but spaces fill early on match days - allow extra time.

By train, Thurles station is on the main Dublin Heuston to Cork line, with connections from Limerick and Tralee. The stadium is a five-minute walk from the station, so the train is a genuinely good option and takes the parking stress out of the day entirely. Bus Eireann also runs regular services into the town.

While you’re in Kilkenny

If you are coming from Kilkenny city or making a weekend of the trip, the city itself is one of the finest in Ireland - medieval streets, the castle, the Marble City brewery quarter, and some of the best food in the country. There is more to see in Kilkenny and across Co. Kilkenny.
