Limerick Milk Market - Friday Café

Friday mornings turn the Milk Market into more of a social space than a shopping trip, with around eight shops open from 11am to 3pm under the name Café Experience. It is a slower, café-paced version of the market’s weekend format, built around brunch, coffee and live music rather than the full Saturday food market, and it has become a regular meeting point for Limerick people catching up over coffee midweek rather than doing a big shop.

What to expect

Expect a handful of stalls selling coffee, brunch food, crafts and antiques, with tables set out under the market’s covered canopy and live music playing through the morning. The atmosphere is closer to a covered café square than a produce market, and it draws a mix of retired regulars, remote workers taking a break and visitors who happen on it while exploring the city centre. The same Café Experience format repeats on Sundays, and some Sundays add extra monthly specialty fairs to the usual Friday and Sunday stalls, run by the same Milk Market management that has operated the site since 1852. Seating is shared and informal, so turning up alone is easy.

Getting there

Market House is just off Mungret Street in Limerick city centre, a short walk from O’Connell Street. The nearest car parks are at Arthur’s Quay and Mungret Street, and it is about ten minutes on foot from Colbert Station.
