At FBD Semple Stadium · Semple Stadium, Thurles, Co. Tipperary
The All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-finals are one of the sharpest afternoons in the GAA calendar - elite county teams, big crowds, and matches that can turn on a single puck. The 2026 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship brings those semi-finals to FBD Semple Stadium in Thurles on Saturday 25 July, with the four surviving counties fighting for a place in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on 9 August. Limerick did not progress from the group stage this year, but for anyone who follows the game - or simply wants to see top-level camogie played at pace and intensity - this is a worthwhile day out. The standard at semi-final stage is as high as the sport gets outside of a final.
FBD Semple Stadium is Ireland’s second largest GAA ground, with a capacity of 45,690. On semi-final day it fills up steadily, particularly in the covered stands (the Dr Kinane Stand and Ardán Ó Riáin), and the atmosphere before throw-in is worth arriving early for. The 2026 championship has been competitive throughout the group stages, with Cork, Galway, and Waterford all performing strongly. The semi-final pairings were to be confirmed once the quarter-finals concluded, so check camogie.ie or the Camogie Association’s social channels close to the date for confirmed match-ups and throw-in times. Double-headers - two semi-finals on the one day - are common at this stage of the championship, which makes the trip especially good value.
Thurles is in Co. Tipperary, roughly 140km south of Dublin and about 100km from Limerick city. By road from Limerick, take the M7 east to Nenagh, then the N62 south into Thurles - around an hour’s drive. From Dublin, the M8 motorway brings you to within a short distance of the town.
By rail, Thurles station sits on the Dublin - Cork main line and is a five-minute walk from the stadium gates. Irish Rail runs GAA specials on big match days, so check irishrail.ie for schedules and book early. Bus Éireann also serves Thurles from Limerick, Dublin, and Cork. Parking is available at Thurles Greyhound Stadium and along Racecourse Road, with paid spots filling quickly on match days - arrive well ahead of throw-in if driving.
The match is in Tipperary, but if you are travelling from or through Limerick city, it makes a natural stop - King John’s Castle, the Hunt Museum, and the Treaty City Brewery are all worth an hour or two. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
