Monaghan town holds its own first LGBT+ Family Pride Day on Saturday, 25 July 2026, a week after a sister event in Castleblayney opened the county’s first Pride weekend. From 2pm to 6pm, Monaghan Courthouse and the surrounding Diamond area host free, family focused entertainment including circus performers, face painting and live music from local singers and musicians. Admission is free, and organisers are encouraging people to bring family and friends “from far and wide.”
The Monaghan event mirrors the format used in Castleblayney the previous weekend: a daytime, all ages gathering rather than a night time parade or club event. Circus performers and face painters work the grounds around the courthouse through the afternoon, with a rolling programme of local singers and musicians providing the entertainment. It is organised by Outcomers, the Dundalk based LGBTQ+ support and advocacy service covering the wider North East, working with Monaghan County Council and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality, who are also supporting the Castleblayney event the same month. Both towns’ events are described as the first Pride gatherings of their kind in County Monaghan, aimed at visibility and family participation rather than a traditional Pride march.
Monaghan Courthouse stands on Church Square in the centre of Monaghan town, a short walk from the town’s bus station and from on street parking around the Diamond. Anyone coming from outside the town can use the town centre car parks and walk the short distance to the courthouse.
