At Monaghan Courthouse · The Diamond, Monaghan, Co. Monaghan
Monaghan town holds its first ever LGBT+ Family Pride Day on Saturday, 25 July 2026, organised by Outcomers, the Dundalk-based LGBTQ+ support service for the North East, with backing from Monaghan County Council and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality. It runs from 2pm to 6pm at Monaghan Courthouse on the Diamond, and a Walk with Pride follows the next day.
The Saturday programme is built as a free, sober, family space rather than a nightlife event, with circus performers, face painting and live music from local singers and musicians running through the afternoon at the Courthouse. It is the county town’s first standalone Pride event, following on from Castleblayney’s LGBT+ Pride Weekend the previous week, and forms part of a wider push by Outcomers to bring visible Pride events into smaller North East towns rather than only the cities. On Sunday, a Walk with Pride sets off from Monaghan Peace Campus, a shorter, low-key march rather than a large city-style parade. Bernie Quinn, Outcomers’ Social Inclusion Officer, has said the events are about LGBTQ+ people having the right to grow up, work and live full lives in the towns where they were born, and about representation being visible for both younger and older LGBTQ+ people locally.
Monaghan Courthouse is on the Diamond in the centre of Monaghan town, within walking distance of the bus station and main town centre car parks. Monaghan Peace Campus, the starting point for Sunday’s walk, is a short walk from the town centre.
Pride weekend is a good reason to spend the day in the county town itself, with shops, cafes and Monaghan Peace Campus’s library and museum all close to the Diamond. There is more to see in Monaghan and across Co. Monaghan.
