At Vicar Street · 58-59 Thomas Street, Dublin 8
Moonlight: The Philip Lynott Enigma returns to Vicar Street on 11 and 12 June 2026 for a pair of special performances following the production’s previous sold-out runs. This major rock and theatre event explores the extraordinary early life of Philip Lynott, the Dublin-born frontman of Thin Lizzy who rose from the northside streets of the city to become one of the defining figures in the history of rock music.
Created by John Merrigan and Danielle Morgan and directed by Jason Figgis, the production focuses on Lynott’s formative years and the first phase of Thin Lizzy in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when Dublin and London were dynamic melting pots of musical innovation. Peter M. Smith plays Lynott in what has been praised as a compelling and musically thrilling performance, supported by a strong cast and a live band.
Performed in Vicar Street, just a few kilometres from where Lynott grew up in Crumlin, the show has a particular resonance and emotional weight in this city. If you love Thin Lizzy, Irish music history or great storytelling, this is essential viewing.
