(Christmas) 4 Day Tour Of South Western Ireland

About This Tour

Christmas in Ireland isn’t really about big-city hotels and department store decorations. It’s about a turf fire in a Kerry pub, a table full of people who showed up for the craic, and a slow drive past Atlantic headlands in the low winter light. This 4-day tour puts you right in the middle of that.

You’ll leave Dublin and head south-west, covering some of Ireland’s most loved ground - the Ring of Kerry, the Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle and its famous stone - before arriving in Dingle for Christmas Day itself. Dingle is one of those places that still feels like itself: a small Kerry fishing town with music sessions, good seafood, and just enough going on that you won’t be sitting around wondering what to do. Your driver-guide knows it well and will steer you towards the best of it.

Three nights’ accommodation and breakfast each morning are included, so the essentials are sorted from the start. You’ll travel in a group of up to 64, with your driver taking care of the routing through Cork and County Kerry.

Local Tips

Pack for Kerry weather, even at Christmas. The south-west in December can be crisp and glorious, but it can also be wet and windy in the same afternoon. Layers are your friend - a decent waterproof on top of something warm is the formula that works. And yes, the Cliffs of Moher are worth it in any conditions.

Christmas Day in Dingle is genuinely special. The town quiets down from the usual summer crowds, and what’s left is very much the real thing. A lot of the pubs serve food on Christmas Day, and the music sessions carry on regardless of the date. If you want to feel like you’re spending Christmas among Irish people rather than just near them, this is the version of it.

Blarney Stone etiquette is simple. You lie on your back, lean backwards over the parapet, and kiss the stone. The castle staff are there to help you through it and it takes about 30 seconds. If you’re not fussed about the stone itself, the grounds at Blarney Castle are genuinely beautiful and worth wandering regardless.

The Ring of Kerry is best appreciated slowly. Your driver knows the road well and will stop at the right viewpoints, but it helps to know that the route circles the Iveragh Peninsula - you’ll pass through Killorglin, Cahersiveen, Waterville and Kenmare along the way. Each has its own character, and a short stop to stretch your legs is always worth it.

Dress up for dinner, even on the road. Kerry and Cork have some seriously good restaurants, and Christmas is when a lot of them pull out their best menus. Your driver-guide can point you in the right direction for the evening meal - just ask.
