Best of Ireland 6-Day Backpackers Economy Tour

About This Tour

Six days, all four corners of Ireland, and a route that doesn’t rush past any of it. This is an economy tour built for travellers who want to actually see the country without the boutique price tag - expect good company on the bus, proper local nights out, and enough time at each stop to explore on foot rather than just tick a box.

Day 1: Dublin to Belfast

You head north to Belfast, where you’ll visit Titanic Belfast and spend time in the historic downtown quarter. Night in Belfast.

Day 2: Belfast to Derry

The Antrim Coast fills the day - Dunluce Castle, the Giant’s Causeway, and photo stops at the Dark Hedges and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. The day ends with a historic walking tour of Derry before you settle in for the night.

Day 3: Derry to Galway

You leave Northern Ireland and head south along the Wild Atlantic Way to Galway, with a lunch stop in Strandhill - a well-known surfing spot on the Sligo coast - and time for a walk on the beach. A free walking tour of Galway rounds out the evening. Night in Galway.

Day 4: Galway to Dingle Peninsula

Head south via the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, then on to Annascaul on the Dingle Peninsula for the night.

Day 5: Dingle

A full day on the Dingle Peninsula, which is one of Europe’s finest coastal drives - mountain passes, sea views, and plenty worth stopping for along the way. Night in Killarney.

Day 6: Killarney to Dublin

A tour of Killarney National Park starts the final day before you head east via Blarney Castle in Cork to kiss the Blarney Stone. The tour wraps up back in Dublin by early evening.

Local Tips

Pack light and pack waterproofs. Six days across Ireland means six days of weather you can’t predict, and you’ll be on and off the bus regularly at outdoor sites. A compact rain jacket takes up no space and will probably save your entire trip at some point around the Cliffs of Moher or the Giant’s Causeway.

The Dingle Peninsula day is the one people talk about most. The coastal drive on day five - with the mountain passes and the sea stretching out below you - is genuinely one of the most beautiful things you’ll see in Ireland. Don’t spend it with your headphones in. Put the phone down for a bit and just look.

Galway night is worth staying up for. The city’s music and pub scene is particularly good, and a free evening in Galway is one of those things that tends to become a highlight of the whole trip. Ask your guide which streets are worth heading down for traditional music sessions.

The Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge books up. If entry to the bridge is included in your tour package, you’re covered - but if you want to come back independently or you’re booking additional activities on the Antrim Coast, check availability in advance. It’s one of the most popular stops in Northern Ireland.

Dark Hedges is best early in the morning. The famous beech tree tunnel on the Antrim road fills up with visitors and photographers throughout the day. If your bus gets there early, grab that window. If not, it’s still worth seeing - just be prepared for company.
