There are short refreshment stops on longer runs so you can stretch your legs. Your flight is tracked if you’re coming from the airport, and there’s an hour of complimentary waiting time at the airport and 15 minutes at a hotel. Local Tips

Killarney and Kenmare are very different towns, and both are worth knowing. Killarney is the busier of the two - a proper tourist town with hotels, restaurants, jaunting cars, and the famous National Park on its doorstep. Kenmare is smaller, quieter, and has some of the best food in Munster. If you want to spend time walking, Killarney is your base; if you want to eat well and have the town feel more like your own, Kenmare fits the bill.

Killarney National Park is a short walk from the town centre. The park covers 102 square kilometres and includes three lakes, ancient oak woods, and the ruins of Muckross Abbey. Ross Castle on the edge of Lough Leane is worth the walk out - you can take a boat from the jetty there across to Innisfallen Island, where monks lived and wrote for over a thousand years.

The Gap of Dunloe is best done early. The narrow mountain pass between the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and the Purple Mountain is one of the most dramatic landscapes in Kerry, and it can get very busy with jaunting cars and cyclists from mid-morning onwards in summer. Head out before 9am if you want the valley to yourself.

Kenmare is a 30-minute drive from Killarney. The town sits at the head of the Kenmare River estuary and has a strong tradition of good eating - Mulcahy’s and The Boathouse are both reliable, and the weekly market on the town square is good for local cheese and charcuterie.
