Delphi Resort sits deep in the Connemara mountains, surrounded by bog and lough and very little else - which is exactly the point. Getting there in comfort takes the same kind of care as the place itself. DM Executive Line collects you from your Dublin City location in a Mercedes-Benz and drives you west on what’s roughly a 3.5-hour journey, with a 15-minute service stop built into the route.
Your chauffeur and the reservations team track your flight in real time, so pickups are timed to your actual arrival rather than a guessed schedule. For airport transfers, 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time is included, giving you room to breathe if customs or baggage takes a while. The price is fixed at booking - no extras tacked on after the fact.
Your chauffeur picks you up at your Dublin City location. This is a private transfer - your group only. Specialised infant seats are available, and infants and small children can travel in a pram or stroller. Service animals are welcome. Public transport options are also available nearby. Suits all fitness levels. Conducted in English.
The drive through Connemara is the opening act. Once you leave the motorway behind and head into Galway, the landscape shifts dramatically. The bog stretches out flat and brown on either side, the Twelve Bens rise in the distance and you’ll likely have the road mostly to yourself. Your chauffeur knows the route well, so don’t hesitate to ask about what you’re passing through.
Delphi is built around the outdoors. The resort runs its own adventure centre with sea kayaking, abseiling and hill walking, all set against the Mweelrea mountain range. If you’re there to slow down rather than speed up, the spa draws from mountain spring water and the food leans heavily on local produce from the west.
Leenane village is worth a short stop. Just a few kilometres from Delphi, Leenane sits at the head of Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only true fjord. It’s a tiny village but the scenery is extraordinary, and the sheep that wander the road nearby have made Killary something of a slow travel destination in its own right.
Westport is an hour away if you want a town. Connemara can feel beautifully isolated, but the Georgian planned town of Westport in Mayo is a straightforward drive if you need a restaurant, a pint or a proper high street. It’s one of the more charming small towns on the west coast and regularly wins awards for it.
