Fota Island Resort sits on a private island in Cork Harbour, and this transfer from Dublin Airport gets you there without the hassle of rental cars, train changes or shared coaches. DM Executive Line runs a private, door-to-door service in a Mercedes-Benz with a certified professional driver - no other passengers, no detours, just a smooth 2 hours 30 minutes south to Cork.
Your driver meets you at your hotel reception, and for airport arrivals, 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time is included. If you’re heading back after your stay, the return works just the same. DM Executive Line also covers long-distance city-to-city routes, return trips and hourly chauffeur hire across Ireland.
Fota Wildlife Park is on your doorstep. Opened in 1983 and located right beside the resort, it’s one of Ireland’s most visited attractions - not because of the marketing but because of how it’s set up. Many animals roam freely around the grounds rather than behind bars, so you’ll find wallabies crossing the path and cheetahs closer than you’d expect. Worth at least a half-day.
Cobh is 10 minutes by road and tells a big story. The town on the harbour was the Titanic’s last port of call in April 1912. The Cobh Heritage Centre in the old Victorian railway station covers that history along with the mass emigrations of the 19th century. The cathedral on the hill above town has a fine view across the harbour and is worth the short climb.
Midleton is the home of Irish whiskey. The Jameson Distillery Experience in Midleton runs tours and tastings year-round - it’s about 20 minutes from the resort and gives you a genuine behind-the-scenes look at how Irish whiskey is made. Book ahead in summer as it gets busy.
The resort’s golf courses host professional events. Fota Island Golf Club’s Duhallow course has hosted the Irish Open and the courses play along the estuary, with water coming into play regularly. Tee time availability in summer is tighter than you’d think, so book as soon as you know your dates.
