Dublin Jewellery, Create a Personalised Charm in Silver

About This Workshop

Starting from a single square of sterling silver, you can actually make more than one charm in this session - which means you could leave with a small layered stack for a necklace rather than just a single piece. The creative possibilities are broader than you might expect from a two-hour class.

You’ll use real silversmithing tools and learn a genuine technique, not a simplified craft version of one. The tutor-to-participant ratio is high: groups are capped at 6 people, so you get proper attention throughout. It’s a nice way to spend a couple of hours in Dublin, and what you take home is something you actually made yourself.

The workshop runs above the sister shop, The Collective. Check in at reception on arrival.

Local Tips

Punctuality matters here more than at most experiences. The session starts on time and the policy is clear: arrive more than 10 minutes late and you won’t be able to join, with no refund. Build in a buffer - the area around The Collective has good transport links, but Dublin traffic is unpredictable, especially in the afternoon.

Six people is a genuinely small group. This isn’t a large studio where you’re one of twenty people working side by side. With a cap of 6, the tutor can actually see what you’re doing and help you refine it. That makes a real difference to what you end up with.

The fact that you can make multiple charms from one square of silver is worth thinking about before you arrive. Come with an idea or two - a shape, a symbol, something that means something to you. You don’t need to be a designer, but having a starting point means you use the session well rather than spending the first 20 minutes deciding.

It sits at a good price point for a handmade souvenir. From EUR85 for a two-hour class where you leave with a piece of sterling silver jewellery you made yourself is reasonable by Dublin standards. Compare it to what you’d pay for a silver charm in a jewellery shop, and the value proposition shifts considerably.

The Collective shop below the workshop is worth a look. If you’re collecting or picking up gifts, it’s a natural stop before or after your class - you’re already there, and browsing it takes only a few minutes.

  • Dublin City Centre - The workshop sits in the southside city centre, close to the George’s Street Arcade, Grafton Street, and the lively grid of streets between St Stephen’s Green and Dame Street.
  • Rathmines - A short walk south, Rathmines has the kind of lived-in southside character that makes it a pleasant place to wander after an afternoon in the city centre.
  • Ranelagh - Beyond Rathmines, a compact neighbourhood with a good restaurant strip and a Sunday farmers’ market that draws a steady local crowd.
