Dublin Zoo Skip-the-line Tickets and Private Transfers

About This Tour

Dublin Zoo has been going since 1830 - one of the oldest in the world - and it covers over 28 hectares (69 acres) inside Phoenix Park, which is itself one of the largest enclosed urban parks in Europe. This package pairs skip-the-line entry tickets with private door-to-door transfers, so you’re not standing in a ticket queue or working out bus connections from the city centre.

Your professional, English-speaking driver collects your group from your accommodation and brings you straight to the zoo. Spend around 3 hours exploring - the African Plains, Kaziranga Forest Trail, World of Cats, World of Primates, Reptile House, City Farm, Discovery Centre and more. You’ll find lions, elephants and penguins alongside endangered species including rodrigues fruit bats, golden lion tamarins and moluccan cockatoos. When you’re done, your driver picks you up and brings you back. It’s a genuinely easy half-day out that works well for families and adults alike.

Local Tips

Arrive early if you can. Dublin Zoo opens its gates at 9:30am (9am on Sundays), and the animals are often most active in the first couple of hours before the main crowds arrive. The African Plains section in particular is worth reaching early in the day.

Bring food or plan to buy inside. There are a few cafes and kiosks around the zoo, but they get busy around midday, especially with school groups on weekday visits. Packing snacks for younger children saves you queuing time in the middle of the visit.

Phoenix Park is worth knowing about. The zoo sits inside one of the largest enclosed city parks in Europe, and if you have time after your visit, the park itself is a lovely place to walk. The Papal Cross (from John Paul II’s visit in 1979), the herd of wild deer and the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre are all accessible on foot from the zoo entrance.

The Kaziranga Forest Trail is a real highlight. It houses Asian elephants, orangutans and Indian rhinos, and the enclosures are spacious enough that you often get extended views of the animals in motion. It’s a popular section, so give it more time than you think you’ll need.

Check the feeding and keeper talk schedule when you arrive. The zoo runs talks and feeding sessions at various exhibits throughout the day - the times are posted at the entrance and on the daily schedule boards inside. Timing your walk around these sessions makes the visit considerably more interesting, especially for children.
