At Lyric Theatre Belfast, Naughton Studio · 55 Ridgeway Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim
Big Telly Theatre Company brings its immersive experience Darren Jackson’s Wedding to the Lyric Theatre Belfast from 21 October to 1 November 2026, staged as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival. Written by Zoe Seaton and Shelley Atkinson with the company, the show is billed as a theatrical celebration in which the groom exchanges vows with an artificial intelligence, and audiences are drawn into the role of wedding guests rather than passive spectators. Framed around questions like whether the union can be real love, and what it means when the groom might have been groomed by a deepfake, the piece uses the trappings of a family wedding to probe anxieties around AI and human connection. True to its immersive format, audiences are asked to meet at a specified location for the performance rather than simply taking a seat, promising twists along the way.
The run opens with previews from 21 October, with press night on Thursday 22 October, and continues through Sunday 1 November 2026, with performances alternating between 2:30pm and 7:30pm depending on the date. Tickets cost between £16 and £22, with a £16 community, artist and student discount available for selected performances. The show is recommended for ages 14 and up. As an immersive production, exact meeting arrangements are confirmed with ticket holders ahead of the performance, so check the Lyric’s booking confirmation for details before travelling. Book via the Lyric Theatre website or by phone on 028 9038 1081.
The Lyric Theatre is based on Ridgeway Street near Belfast’s Botanic Gardens and Queen’s University, served by regular Translink buses and metered street parking, though immersive performances may direct ticket holders elsewhere. Arrive a little earlier than usual for an immersive show of this kind, since check-in and any pre-show instructions typically take longer than a standard seated performance.
Big Telly Theatre Company, founded in Portstewart and now working across Northern Ireland, is known for playful, technology-driven immersive work, and this production is staged as part of the wider Belfast International Arts Festival programme running across the city from mid-October into early November 2026.
