What to Expect

Normal Cinema Club is an independent screening series that moves between small Belfast venues rather than sitting in one cinema. Its next confirmed date is Saturday 15 August 2026 at Portview Trade Centre on the Newtownards Road, a night of short films built around the theme of place and memory, described by the organisers as being about “homes and churches and workplaces and clubs and car parks.” Twelve days later, on Thursday 27 August, the club screens at Beanbag Cinema in the city centre with a tourism-themed programme: the feature Innocents Abroad (1991), following a group of tourists across 22 European cities in 14 days, plus three accompanying shorts on the experience of travel - A Tourist Story, Picture Me Gone and Susana. The format across both nights is a feature or short-film selection followed by informal discussion, in keeping with the club’s small, community-run character rather than a conventional multiplex programme.

Getting There

Portview Trade Centre is on the Newtownards Road in east Belfast, a short taxi or bus ride from the city centre, with ground-floor and lift access into the building. Beanbag Cinema on Exchange Place is in Belfast city centre near the Cathedral Quarter, within walking distance of Donegall Square and well served by city centre bus routes and the Lanyon Place and Great Victoria Street train stations.
