LUMI Presents Film Series at Queen's Film Theatre, Belfast

What to Expect

LUMI Presents is a strand at Queen’s Film Theatre made up of “films that are all united by one thing: they were chosen by our LUMI Programmers,” QFT’s scheme for engaging young cinemagoers. The next confirmed date is Wednesday 12 August 2026, when QFT screens 8 Mile, Curtis Hanson’s 2002 drama starring Eminem as a young rapper trying to break out of the Detroit hip-hop scene of the mid-1990s. Four days later, on Sunday 16 August, QFT holds a members-only LUMI Preview of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the latest film from director Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow), reserved for LUMI members aged 16 to 26. The strand sits alongside QFT’s other regular series, giving younger audiences a route into the cinema’s programme through titles picked with that age group specifically in mind, rather than a themed retrospective or festival tie-in.

Getting There

Queen’s Film Theatre is at 20 University Square in the Queen’s Quarter of south Belfast, next to Queen’s University. It’s a 15-minute walk from the city centre down Dublin Road and University Road, with Metro bus services stopping close by on University Road and plenty of cafes and bars in the surrounding Botanic area before or after a screening.
