Wunderhorse - CHSq Belfast

At Custom House Square (CHSq) · Custom House Square, Belfast, Co. Antrim

Wunderhorse live at Custom House Square Belfast

Wunderhorse bring their biggest ever Belfast headline show to Custom House Square on a Tuesday evening in late August - and if you follow British guitar music at all, you’ll know that means something. This is a band on a genuine upward curve: winners of The Group Award at the 2025 Rolling Stone UK Awards, described by that same publication as “the arrival of a band that could become generational.” Frontman Jacob Slater started Wunderhorse in 2020 as a solo project before building it into a full band, and the live show has always been central to how they’ve won people over. Anyone who came of age on guitar music will find a lot to like here.

What to expect

Custom House Square holds around 5,000 standing, and the outdoor setting suits Wunderhorse well - their sound has the kind of scale that benefits from open air and volume. The band have two albums behind them: the 2022 debut Cub, and 2024’s Midas, recorded at Pachyderm Studio in Minnesota (the same room that hosted Nirvana’s In Utero) with producer Craig Silvey. Midas has gone silver in the UK. Expect songs from both records, plus the kind of set that leans into the moment - Wunderhorse are known for live performances that feel earned rather than polished. Gates open at 6pm. Support acts are to be announced; check the Ticketmaster listing closer to the date.

This Belfast date is the first of a three-night run: Cork the following night, then Sheffield’s Rock n Roll Circus on the 29th. The band are clearly treating Ireland and Northern Ireland as a priority stop.

Getting there

Custom House Square sits in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, close to the waterfront and a short walk from Lanyon Place train station, which connects to Dublin Connolly via Enterprise Rail (roughly two hours). From the Republic, coaches run regularly to Belfast Europa Bus Centre, which is about fifteen minutes on foot from CHSq. If you’re driving, the city centre has multi-storey car parks nearby, but on a Tuesday evening traffic shouldn’t be too heavy - allow extra time around the venue at show-end. Bus Eireann and GoBus routes serve Belfast from most major towns.

Irish Concert Travel runs a dedicated bus to this show for those coming from the Republic - worth checking if you want a door-to-door option.

While you’re in Belfast

The Cathedral Quarter itself has good pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance of the venue - Cathedral Quarter regulars include Dirty Onion and the Duke of York, both close by. If you’re making a day of it, the Titanic Quarter is a short taxi or bus ride. There is more to see in Belfast and across Co. Antrim.
